Young Entrepreneurs of Grant County Program
Goals
The goal of the Innovative Network's Young Entrepreneurs of Grant County is to provide a program where innovative thinking, the entrepreneurial mindset, and life skills are developed by young people that empower and offer them opportunities in the future.
Objectives
- To stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship in the communities of Grant County
- To empower the young people of Grant County and invest in the next generation of the communities.
- To engage the business community in investing into the next generation of Grant County entrepreneurs.
Structure
The Young Entrepreneurs of Grant County Program is
executed and designed by the Innovative Network of Grant County.
This program offers an opportunity to high school juniors and
seniors in Grant County with an interest in entrepreneurship who
demonstrate an excellence in their school work and have met a
proficiency level in.
Select students (via a nomination and competitive process) will attend a semester long program consisting of 2 hours per week for 15 weeks. The Innovative Network will lead the program with serious assistance from the Growth Council, the local business community and local high schools. Students will work in teams on a fundamental case to determine the best way for a business to compete in the communities of Grant County. They will devise a plan based on their own concept for starting and managing a successful business.
Students will be provided with the business case, instructions, necessary material, and advisors to insure their success in completing the program. The program will culminate with a competitive presentation, where the student teams will present their business solutions to a panel of judges (investors, business professional, etc). The judges will vote on the best business strategy and potential for success. The top three teams identified by the panel of judges will be awarded with scholarship money for college and an investment toward starting the business locally.
