US Department of Agriculture Rural Development Director Michael Dora visited Grant County.

On October 6, 2020, the City of Marion was awarded a placemaking award for the 2019 City of Marion Pitch Night.

The Growth Council secured an additional $100,000 for the revolving loan fund to help offset costs associated with lost revenue, bills, or transitions to remote work.

In Grant County, Eastern Indiana Wifi was awarded over $250,000 in grants and local match funds to service over 100 homes and 29 businesses in eastern Grant County.

Exeon Processors and its predecessor have operated a wire reclamation facility for more than three decades in Jonesboro, a city with fewer than 2,000 residents. It was great news when Exeon opened a new production line next to its existing plant and added fifteen employees in 2020.

Since 2002 the Grant County Economic Growth Council has regularly conducted a confidential Business Climate Survey of local employers. The 2020 survey incorporates many of the questions from the original and 2020 respondents provide employment for the majority of Grant County employees.

The Growth Council announces the selection of Charity Bailey as Senior Director for Economic Development Services.

Several local organizations launched a project – Gift Cards for Thanks – in late April to support Grant County’s frontline workers and to give the local economy a boost at the same time.

The Grant County Economic Growth Council and Marion-Grant County Chamber of Commerce have released the Grant County PPE Marketplace: a webpage containing all local sources for Personal Protective Equipment. 

Eight Grant County businesses are receiving $7,500 in financial assistance through the First Round of the Growth Council’s COVID-19 Loan Fund.

Tim Eckerle has been the Growth Council’s only director since its establishment in 1984. Throughout his tenure, Eckerle has developed and guided the Growth Council’s mission to foster economic development in Grant County.

The Growth Council’s COVID-19 Loan Fund has partnered with Grant County’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to expand its funding capacity.

Grant County businesses impacted by the Global Pandemic, the COVID-19 virus, will now have access to financial assistance through the Growth Council’s COVID-19 Loan Fund.

The Growth Council and STAR Financial Bank hosted the 21st Annual Investor’s Awards Luncheon at the Tomahawk Lounge this afternoon. 

64 local businesses will be celebrated for their contribution to Grant County’s economy at the annual Investor’s Appreciation Awards.
