Marion, Indiana | March 5, 2026 – The Grant County Economic Growth Council announced today that Executive Director Chuck Binkerd will retire from his role effective July 1, 2026, concluding two years of service leading the organization.
With more than 40 years of combined experience in local government, utilities, and economic development, Binkerd served on the Growth Council board for over a decade and on the Marion Community Revitalization Enhancement District Board for more than 20 years before being hired as Executive Director in May 2024. He accepted the role with a two-year commitment to guide the organization through a period of transition and continued progress in Grant County’s economic development efforts. As his two-year anniversary approaches, he has informed the Board of Directors of his plans to retire and support a transition to the organization’s next long-term leader.
“It has been a privilege to serve alongside such a dedicated and forward-thinking Board,” said Binkerd. “I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with partners across Grant County who are committed to strengthening our local economy. Together, we’ve made meaningful progress, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished.”
Binkerd will remain in his role through July 1 to support a smooth transition and assist the Board of Directors as it begins the process of identifying the Growth Council’s next Executive Director.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to express our deepest gratitude to Chuck Binkerd for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the Grant County Economic Growth Council,” said Ashley Hurd, Board President. “Chuck has not only guided our organization with vision and integrity but has also been a steadfast advocate for the businesses and communities we serve. His dedication, professionalism, and genuine care for Grant County have made a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come. We are sincerely thankful for his service and wish him every success and happiness in his retirement.”
The Growth Council’s Board of Directors and staff remain committed to continuing the organization’s work and building on the progress made over the past two years. The organization will continue working closely with investors, businesses, and community partners to advance economic opportunities throughout Grant County.
